Lust for Life in Multicultural Linz

15.04.2008

Europe is getting bigger and more diverse. That’s why the European Parliament and the European Council have proclaimed the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. In April, the Dialogue Tour will be visiting Linz.

Awakening interest in and sensitivity towards the neighbourly coexistence of different cultures is one of the EU’s missions. From 4th April to 6th May, the Dialogue Tour will be visiting the capital cities of Austria's nine provinces. On 17th April, it’s Linz’s turn. Among the prominent guests on hand will be Dr. Claudia Schmied, Austrian Federal Minister of Education, Art and Culture. Linz09 will also be making a presentation on stage at Linz’s Main Square (Hauptplatz) between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Another feature attraction is a lineup of music from around the world. There’ll also be tents set up to showcase projects that take interesting approaches to fostering intercultural dialogue.
The Dialogue Tour is being accompanied by radio station Ö1’s Clubmobil that’s touring Austria in cooperation with Linz09. At cultural events and festivals throughout the country, the Clubmobil is disseminating informational material about the Capital of Culture year.
