Be sure to mark this down in your calendar: the “Linz Texas” exhibition opens in Architekturzentrum Wien in mid-June!

According to this exhibition’s subtitle, Linz is a “City with Relationships.” “Linz Texas” looks into which of the city’s qualities and facets connect Linz to other cities around the world. The comparison with, for instance, Madrid, Wolfsburg and Seattle reveal both the obvious and the absurd. “Linz Texas” will run from 12th June to 8th September in Vienna’s Architekturzentrum (Museumsquartier, Museumsplatz 1). The show then moves to Graz (stadtmuseumgraz, Sackstr. 18). And on the day of the Vienna vernissage, the Museumsquartier campus will become a very special acoustic space in honour of the Klangwolke that premiered in Linz in 1979. Then, the people of Linz were called upon to place their radios on their window sills so that Anton Bruckner’s 8th Symphony could resound throughout the entire city. Now, this 1979 action is being reprised: tiny radios will be handed out so that the original Klangwolke can fill the Museumsquartier with a “cloud of sound.” The broadcast on ORF – Austrian Broadcasting Company’s radio station Ö1 begins on 11th June at 7:30 p.m.
