Portraitprojekt I.A.” by Irene Andessner centres on her self portraits done by other artists. The results of Andessner’s collaboration with Paolo Leone is on view at Brunnhofer Galerie, Linz, from 9 October.

Impersonating “Ursula K.”, a depressive without a great deal to look forward to in life, the Austrian performance artist Irene Andessner mingled with visitors at ten Viennese locations following the instructions of Paolo Leone and allowed herself to photographed by him in line with his ideas rather than her own.
These portrait photographs form part of ”Portraitprojekt I.A.”, for whose realization the Salzburg-born artist has made herself available as a model to fellow artists. She does not interfere in the least in the creation of the photographs and achieves in this way the paradox of self portraits produced by other artists.
