“Linz Atlas” is an objective portrait of the City of Linz that goes deeper than a mere collection of visually evocative images. Its public debut is set for late November.

Data and facts are the raw material that “Linz Atlas” is made of. Going beyond subjective estimations and the pretty pictures painted by local boosters, this atlas generates a totally objective representation of this city astride the Danube. Hard facts & figures show the city’s strengths and weaknesses, and indicate where Linz stands in comparison to other European cities. There’s a consistent focus on the realities of everyday life. What’s the essence of Linz from the perspective of its inhabitants? Which everyday realities make an impact on everyday qualities? “Linz Atlas” was authored by urban researcher Peter Arlt and designed by Jonas Voegeli and Dimitri Broquard.
Prior to the book presentation, Michael Koch, architect, city planner and, since 2004, Professor of Urban Planning and Neighbourhood Development at HafenCity University in Hamburg, will discuss strategies in use in that city.

“Linz Atlas” is being published by Springer Verlag, and will be available in bookstores in early December (price: € 39.90).
