It seems that lots of travellers are tired of cookie-cutter hotel rooms! The response to Linz09’s very innovative Pixelhotel project has been enthusiastic indeed. Two new facilities have just opened.

Pixelhotel guests can now choose from among five very different accommodation options. The word has already gotten out about the Pixel im Hof on Marienstraße in downtown Linz, the Pixel with Garden in the Franckviertel neighbourhood, and the Pixel in the Textilpassage near the Landstraße shopping district. Now, there’s also a Pixel on the Water. What is definitely the most unconventional hotel room in the city of Linz—and possibly in all of Austria—is spread out over three cabins aboard the MS Traisen anchored in Linz harbour. And design aficionados will feel right at home in the Pixel in the Gallery on Hirschgasse at the foot of Bauernberg. Opening soon: Pixel in the Volksküche, an important piece of 1920s architecture that’s currently being rehabbed.
