About a hundred musical performances will be staged over the coming months under this big top—a French wooden tent. Most of the works were composed or arranged especially for this show that premieres on May 11.

“Circus” kicks off with a production entitled “Comix”—music from animated films released over the last few decades. And then there’s “Once around the World,” an homage to Czech composer Karel Svoboda featuring lots of familiar melodies including excerpts from the soundtracks of “Biene Maja,” “Wickie und die starken Männer,” “Pinocchio” and “Nils Holgerson.” An excursion into a very different world has been undertaken by a project about Linz composer/exorcist Romanus Weichlein (ca. 1652-1706). Now, after more than three centuries, his works are being rediscovered in Linz. And these are only three of the many fascinating “Circus” projects being staged in this phenomenal show. And last but definitely not least—some prominent ringmasters and -mistresses will be presiding over the entertainment extravaganza. So step right up and see the big show!
