Jazz experts and scholars in the field of film studies will be gathering in Linz this week for the Radio Jazz Research conference. The focus will be on the many diverse facets of the relationship between jazz and film. Accompanying the activities will be a concert program, admission to which is free of charge.

Ever since the early days of the cinema, jazz music has been translated into moving pictures and visualized using this artform. Historical and current manifestations of this will now be the subject of speeches and papers by the experts assembling in Linz for Radio Jazz Research. Naturally, this isn’t just a matter of theoretical considerations; there will also be screenings of jazz films, and a concert each night of the conference.
