A case of espionage or an achievement of democracy? Public as well as private surveillance cameras have become a familiar sight in modern cityscapes. But the highly problematic legal and social issues that go hand-in-hand with such efforts to achieve security don’t seem to concern all that many of us. And that is precisely what calls for intervention—to shake people out of their lethargy and use humor to let them see just how absurd this is.
Social Impact offers its own special brand of excursion through downtown Linz. In contrast to conventional guided tours, it’s surveillance-free. Special equipment and specific movement patterns guarantee that surveillance cameras will be unable to identify group members.
