Gelbes Krokodil / moviemento, Dametzstr. 30, 4040 Linz

While the "Blaumeier Atelier" from Bremen, Germany is in Linz to appear at “sicht:wechsel,” the international integrative cultural festival, Hellena Harttung, the atelier’s spokesperson, will join Ulrich Fuchs for a chat. Afterwards, at noon, there will be a screening of the film “Verrückt nach Paris” (www.verruecktnachparis.de).

About 200 people—with and without handicaps—patronize the Blaumeier Atelier in Bremer, Germany to engage in painting, acting and musical activities and to create and play with masks. Here, individuals who are socially isolated from one another or who live in institutional settings can come together to jointly explore new forms of communication and exchange. At the Blaumeier Atelier, the accent is on the joy derived from artistic pursuits. And inherent in this is the rejection of a psychiatric-diagnostic approach: this facility is not a matter of using artistic means to reinforce a therapeutic treatment; rather, the works of art created at the Atelier can stand on their own and don’t have to play second fiddle!

At “sicht:wechsel,” the international integrative cultural festival being launched this year in Linz, the Atelier has been invited to present a theatrical production entitled “Suite Elisabeth.” This musical revue will be performed on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the Kammerspielen of the Landestheater Linz.

“If you’re ready for some side-splitting laughter, then take a room at Chez Elise!” — Weser Report
“Marvelous comic parodies of famous personalities aren’t all that the Blaumeier Atelier’s latest effort has in store. This production also offers musical highlights full of witty lyrics and Viennese charm.” — Bremer Anzeiger
“The Blaumeier Atelier’s artistry consists of bringing together all kinds of different people in a work in such a way that what emerges is something unique in which everyone remains authentic and no one is robbed of dignity because of his or her handicap.” — Weser Kurier
