“Getting Out into Linz” is a Linz09 pre-project that’s just the thing for people fascinated by the idea of nature study right in the middle of town. The first walking tour is in May. Destination: Pöstlingberg. In June, urban adventurers will explore little-known paths through the industrial zone adjacent to Linz’s harbour.

Linz is one of Austria's greenest cities and one of its most dynamic economies too. On one hand, there are paths leading right through the cityscape that are in a pretty natural state; on the other hand, natural discoveries are possible in industrial areas too. Two exemplary walking tours being offered in spring 2008 will do justice to both of these facets of Linz’s amazing diversity. The May 17 tour will proceed from the Nibelungen Bridge spanning the Danube to the top of Pöstlingberg—with pauses for musical and literary interventions and historical detours. On June 14, a group will head into the area around the harbour and Industriezeile, both a site of intensive industrialization and an unspoiled riverside biotope.
