One step short of total fusion – Tango in Linz

Tango
01.10.2008

Tango is a complex cultural technique rooted in everyday culture. This makes it eminently suitable as a curtain raiser for the exhibition and the “opera of knowledge” “Welt im Kopf”, a Linz 09 project.

Tango, which originated in Argentina, has become a synonym for passion with worldwide currency. Despite the fact that the partners seem almost to coalesce at times a certain distance is maintained throughout – and it is this interplay of closeness and distance that makes the dance so attractive. Linz will now get to sample Argentinian fire in a show conceived and directed by Herbert Lachmayer, head of Experimental Design at the University of the Arts, Linz: tango as danced by Carlos and Rosa Forte-Berg, accompanied by Ensamble Urbano.
