enter my bubble: The Peaks and Valleys of Life in Switzerland

Enter my bubble
26.03.2009

Linz09’s Extra Europa project is bringing “enter my bubble,” a prizewinning performance by Swiss dancers Katy Hernan and Christoph Leuenberger, to Linz. Audience members can look forward to a daring balancing act between cliché and profundity.

Katy, a native of French-speaking western Switzerland, and Chris from the country’s German-speaking east, invite audience members for a sojourn in their own personal homeland. Using the vocabulary of dance as their means of expression, they unearth their roots before the spectators’ very eyes. The journey traverses a picturesque landscape of lush meadows and snowcapped peaks. Along the way, they encounter lost innocence, fondue memories and, inevitably, the chasm separating the Francophone and Germanic halves of Helvetia. Their destination is a little plot of land called home.
The dance duo’s trip imparts in-depth emotional insights into their existence as Swiss, ranging from joyous exultation that makes you want to rip off your clothes and prance about, all the way to the helpless loneliness of life in the Alps.
The precursor of this work was honored with the 2007 Premio Prize for Young Artists.
