Neue Innenstadt/Froschberg takes over as Capital of Culture Neighborhood of the Month in May. A highly diversified lineup of events is on tap. First item on the agenda: renaming Volksgarten (Garden of the People) “Völkergarten” (Garden of the Peoples) as a token of ethnic brotherhood.

In accordance with the mission inherent in its new name, “Völkergarten” will be the setting of multiethnic encounters of a cultural and athletic nature that bespeak the colorful mosaic of everyday life in Neue Innenstadt. And just as it should be, the “Völkergarten” will be a garden of hospitality offering culinary delights from the national cuisines of many of the men and women from all over the world who make up the neighborhood’s population. Over the course of this month, numerous groups, organizations, associations, initiatives and individuals who live here or have some other connection to this part of town will be staging an exciting and wide-ranging program of events and thereby walking side by side on a shared path through the garden of diversity.
