The „Extra Europa festival“’s cultural highlights keep on coming! Three EU non-member states—Norway, Turkey and Switzerland—are the festival’s substantive constants. Music from Switzerland and performance art from Turkey will occupy the spotlight in the coming days.

The Taldans Company from Istanbul will stage the Austrian premiere of its piece entitled “Dokuman” at Hafenhalle09. Inspired by a visit to a Linz textile mill, the performance deals with the quality of artistic and material production. Next up are two extraordinary musical programs. On April 29, Swiss composer/musician Daniel Schnyder and the Orchestra for Applied New Music of the Bruckner Private University Linz will present a concert that runs the gamut of cultural influences. “Around the World” includes elements of non-European music as well as masterpieces of classical, jazz, rock and pop. On May 3, the Vienna Art Orchestra will bring new sound experiences to the Brucknerhaus. Director Matthias Rüegg has brought together a chamber orchestra that includes classical as well as jazz musicians, and done so with unprecedented consistency.
