The rolling hills of Upper Austria’s Mühlviertel region make up an idyllic landscape extending north from Linz to the Czech border. Many Linzers like to go there for relaxation and recreation, but it’s also a place to experience history and culture. That’s what “Journey Time” is all about.

Outings into lovely Mühlviertel are a favourite leisure activity of Linz citydwellers, but the full-day bus tours offered by “Journey Time” are something quite out-of-the-ordinary. These excursions trace cultural paths, historical themes and momentous milestones that have left their mark on Mühlviertel. For example, there’s the “Commuting between Tradition and Innovation” tour that seeks out commercial routes through Mühlviertel—including the quotidian rhythms of today’s suburbanites with jobs downtown. The “Commuting along the River of Time” tour features poetical impressions set beside romantic country byways. “Following the Footprints of the Inmates” is a dead-serious confrontation with the past: the forced marches of the Nazi’s slave laborers from the Mauthausen train depot up to the concentration camp where many would meet their death.
