THE PEOPLES’ PARK – THE PARK OF DIVERSITY

“Volksgarten” (People’s Park) will be renamed “Völkergarten” (Peoples’ Park) for the duration of one month. The name change is symbolic of the co-existence of the most diverse population groups in the Neue Innenstadt neighbourhood. Under the aegis of the new name themes related to this state of affairs will be dealt with in a number of different cultural and sports contexts. The newly named park will be opened on 2 May 2009, the festivities to mark its closure will take place on 30 May 2009.
