Networking among the Capitals of Culture
07.05.2007Representatives of upcoming capitals of culture are meeting on a regular basis to swap experiences. Ulrich Fuchs and Julia Stoff attended the most recent get-together in Essen.
Representatives of the 11 capitals of culture from 2007 to 2011 convened in late April in Essen, Germany, the city that has the honor in 2010. Swapping experiences and arranging joint network projects topped the agenda. Among the issues on which discussions focused were the sustainability of Capital of Culture year projects and long-term opportunities the Capital of Culture year affords cities and regions. Additional meetings are planned to pursue these ideas: the next one will be held in Tallinn, Estonia in June, followed Liverpool, England in October.
