The LINZ EUROPA HAFENFEST set for July 3-5, 2009 is the climax of Hubert von Goisern’s Linz Europa Tour 2007-2009 and also marks the halfway point of Linz’s term as European Capital of Culture. As goodwill ambassador for Linz09, Hubert von Goisern sailed his shipboard stage along some of Europe’s great waterways and performed together with lots of very talented guest stars. The Hafenfest will bring them together again in Linz. Tickets for this extraordinary experience go on sale Monday, January 19, 2009.

The musical journey culminates with a reunion concert in early July 2009 at Linz Harbor, a conclave of the artists that Hubert von Goisern encountered along both legs of his tour. They’ll be convening on stage to musically embody a Europe that’s coming ever more closely together. This three-day concert from East and West will reprise the spirited collaboration that this tour evoked. It’s a grand finale that’s already promising to deliver something very, very special—the participating acts will be arriving well in advance to work intensively together on the production of this highlight-filled concert extravaganza!

The LINZ EUROPA TOUR 2007-2009

Hubert von Goisern and a band of young musicians sailed some of Europe’s great river roads aboard a tug-driven barge converted into a floating concert stage. In summer 2007, they headed east all the way down the Danube; last summer, they took the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal northwest to Rotterdam. Along the way, David Lackner (keyboard), Maria Moling (percussion, vocals), Alex Pohn (drums), Helmut Schartlmüller (bass), Elisabeth Schuen (violin, vocals), Marlene Schuen (violin, vocals), Severin Trogbacher (guitar) and Darinka Tsekova (gadulka) got to collaborate with an incredible spectrum of musical talent!

Musical Encounters

Moldavia’s Zdob si Zdub covering Hubert von Goisern’s ‘90s hit “Koa Hiatamadl,” Serbian original Rambo Amadeus and “Rumanian Madonna” Loredana Groza are just a few of the great Eastern European acts that Linz audiences will get to enjoy this summer. They’ll be joined on stage by many of the top-name entertainers who did guest shots with Hubert von Goisern on the 2008 tour—such as BAP, Xavier Naidoo, Konstantin Wecker, Klaus Doldinger and Zap Mama.
