The CROSSING EUROPE Awards constitute another prominent manifestation of the collaboration between the festival and Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture: “Prizes are not just the glamorous highlights of this festival; they deliver real aid and much-needed recognition for the filmmakers so honored. And this is reason enough for Linz09 to subsidize this European competition,” stated Linz09 Artistic Director Martin Heller. The CROSSING EUROPE Award that goes to the prizewinning film in the European competition is accompanied by a cash prize of 10,000 euros.
