Linz09 Is Getting a Performance Venue of Its Own

The Board approved management’s plans to create a performance venue especially for Linz09 events and to work together on this project with Linz AG.
On a piece of property owned by Linz AG. on the Port of Linz’s 3rd Harbor Basin, Linz AG. will erect a hall to accommodate Linz09 events. Beginning in November 2008, it will be leased to the Linz 2009 Corporation, which will operate this facility during the Capital of Culture year. Thereafter, Linz AG. will use it for its own purposes.
This hall will serve primarily as a venue for performing arts presentations as well as for projects like the Subversive Fair and Extra Europa. In approximately 2,000 m² of space, it will feature two performance facilities capable of functioning independently of one another, an exhibition space, rehearsal rooms, a lobby and event catering.
To get this venue connected to Linz’s public transportation network, bus line 27A (Culture Line) will be extended along Donaulände all the way to the harbor. Plus, for visitors who prefer to drive to Linz09 events, ample parking is available right on the facility’s grounds.
