“Montezuma – Falling Eagle” Cancelled

Linz09 has announced that “Montezuma – Falling Eagle,” a work that Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture commissioned Bernhard Lang to produce in cooperation with LIVA Linzer Veranstaltungsges.m.b.H., has been cancelled. This world premiere was to have taken place on July 8, 2009 in the Brucknerhaus.

The reason for this decision is that the financial outlays required to cover all the expenses and fees that staging this work would entail would have vastly exceeded the very considerable production budget made available by Linz09.

The decision to cancel this project was made by Linz09 Artistic Director Martin Heller and Peter Androsch, the man in charge of Linz09’s musical programming, in consultation with Wolfgang Winkler of the Brucknerhaus. All the artists affected by this decision have already been notified.
