There was a tremendous response to the launch of the new Infocenter, Linz09’s go-to spot for tourist information downtown. More than 1,000 Insider packages were sold, and distribution figures for The Programme 3/3 catalogue also topped a thousand. Lots of customers—many doing their Christmas shopping early this year—opted for the Linz09 Insider. This extremely attractive offer includes discounts on lots of events and merchandise, free or reduced-price admission to museums and galleries, and much, much more.

The Infocenter—being operated jointly by Linz09 and the City Tourist Board—debuted last week. In addition to information about Linz, the European Capital of Culture year programme and tourism in Upper Austria, the facility also offers ticketing for Linz09 events, a hotel reservation service, and Linz09 souvenirs sporting a cool modern design. Linz09 Artistic Director Martin Heller emphasized the smooth cooperation between the Capital of Culture organization and the city’s official tourism bureau: “We delighted about our great working relationship with the City Tourist Board, that we’re now further intensifying with our jointly operated Linz09 Infocenter. We’re bringing together tourism know-how and competence in cultural fields, and passing on the benefits to our guests.”

City Tourist Board Chairman Manfred Grubauer summarized the first few days of the Linz09 Infocenter’s operations in these terms: “Our staffers did a great job handling the big turnout during the opening weekend. Moving our tourist information staff into the Linz09 Infocenter enables us to deliver optimal service to the people of Linz and to our city’s visitors.” Erich Watzl, Linz deputy mayor and chairman of Linz09’s board of directors, expressed pleasure at the general public’s exhilarating response: “The Capital of Culture is already making its presence felt throughout town. The Linz09 Infocenter’s attractive design and efficient, upbeat staff are enhancing the positive mood that’s emerging.”

The Linz09 Infocenter at Hauptplatz 5 is open Monday-Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM; weekends and holidays, 10 AM to 6 PM. Additional information about the Insider Card and the Linz09 programme are available online at www.linz09.at or by calling 0732/7070-2009.
