Schäxpir International Theatre Festival for young audiences

Press conference
Tuesday, 23 June 2009

This year’s 5th SCHÄXPIR gets underway on Thursday, June 25.

The SCHÄXPIR International Theater Festival presents a wide-ranging lineup of Austrian and international productions, and promises 11 days full of theatrical delights and stimulating entertainment. With approximately 150 performances at 17 venues in Linz, Wels, Gmunden and Steyr, SCHÄXPIR is among the five largest theater festivals of its kind worldwide.

This year's outstanding program premieres on June 25.
SCHÄXPIR 2009 offers an excellent, artistically ambitious program drawn from all facets of the performing arts. These works target young—and young-at-heart—audiences: 43 productions from 14 countries including 8 world premieres, 15 Austria premieres, 3 European premieres and a total of 7 co-productions with Linz09. There’s also free admission to a total of 14 concerts and DJ sessions featuring great artists at the OK Center for Contemporary Art’s Mediendeck. A fascinating ancillary program of dialog events and presentations rounds out the festival program.
