United Europe as a Direct Reaction to European History
Politics as an Active Approach to Dealing with the Past

The European Union has been the largest and perhaps most successful political-social project in reaction to National Socialism and World War II. The atrocities of the Nazis have been replaced by a policy of cooperation that remains fully justified to this day. This leads to the question of whether practical and visionary political policymaking can be considered a superior form of coming to terms with the past.

with Daniel Cohn-Bendit
Member of the European Parliament
