Ida & Jim

Ida & Jim Sujet

The Linz Diaries – Foreign students at Anton Bruckner Private University utilized art to deal with their experiences as temporary residents of Linz
In cooperation with Christoph Cech, interview fragments, choral texts and interview interpretations were transformed into the fictional love story of Ida and Jim. (The names stand for Institute for Dance Art and the Institute for Jazz and Improvised Music.) The text’s plot emerged from artistic collaboration with students of composition and dance. The love story, as a “hidden code,” didn’t force its way into the foreground; rather, it provided the foundation for a way of working that involved all of these forms of artistic expression as equal partners in the creative process of this danced jazz cantata.

WHAT // Danced jazz cantata
WHEN // Premiere: October 2, 2009
WHERE // Anton Bruckner Private University Linz
