Making History Come To Life - From Iron To Steel

Part of School projects

Geschichteclub Stahl
Educational Program for Students by Former members of the workforce at the voestalpine steel mill

Members of the Steel History Club at voestalpine’s Linz Works will visit schools for two-unit sessions. Here, the accent is on pupils’ up-close-and-personal encounters with former members of the workforce at the voestalpine steel mill. This project aims to foster intergenerational exchange, to deal with the history of everyday life, and to raise consciousness about an essential aspect of Linz history. This includes an introduction into the history of voestalpine and its products, and an explanation of their significance for the region. Visiting club members will impart basic knowledge about steel, explain how raw materials are converted into finished products, and also go into environmental protection issues—all in a way that’s geared to the particular group’s ages and interests. Audio-visual teaching aids and interactive methods assure a lively process of exchange.
