Karagöz / The magic tree

Just like his cousins from other nations, Karagöz is rude, funny and always causing trouble. THE MAGIC TREE is one of the most enduringly popular performances of Cengiz Özek, the brilliant shadow puppeteer from Istanbul, who combines traditional characters and slapstick techniques with a fresh and contemporary view of the world. This show was a great hit with young and old alike as part of the Extra Europe festival earlier this year. Now here’s a chance to see Karagöz at night in the open air. A delightful short performance which uses very little language and is suitable for audiences of any age.
