His latest project examines detention camps, a form of “accommodation” invented in the course of Europe’s colonial history that has been taken even further in our times. Such camps deprive individuals of their liberty even though they have committed no crime. In IN THE YARD OF JUST ONE the detention camp phenomenon can be experienced from a variety of perspectives: both outdoors, where a classic example of such a camp is constructed, and indoors in a series of contemplative performances. A leading role will be played by Issa Samb, Senegalese painter, performer, philosopher and artist. He will inhabit this space to think accompanied by the classic cast for an internment camp: a cook, a doctor and a soldier.
