And what if it wasn’t just happening on a stage? What if pictures that “looked like pictures only a moment ago” suddenly came to life?

What would happen if you were to step through a frame into a picture and arrive in another world, in different surroundings, in a different time? You’d meet painters and other interesting people and you’d experience things you’ve never even heard of before. Imagination is given free rein. The experience becomes so real and so delightful, and goes far beyond what could be achieved in a conventional art appreciation course.
In 2009, Schlossmuseum Linz hosted a special exhibition entitled “Longing for Nature. Europe’s Landscapes.” In conjunction with it, OÖ Landesmuseen and the Theater des Kindes staged a special production for children age 6+ inspired by “Katie Meets the Impressionists,” James Mayhew’s tribute to the impressionist painters. What began as a conventional guided tour through an exhibition of European landscape paintings turned, in the blink of an eye, into an interactive encounter with people and their countries. The public reception accorded to PUT YOURSELF IN THE PICTURE was most enthusiastic: all 26 performances were sold out!
