Landestheater Linz is one of numerous institutions with which Linz09 has enjoyed an excellent and very fruitful working relationship. Several plays produced for the Capital of Culture year will continue to be performed in 2010.

Linz’s term as Capital of Culture concludes on December 31, 2009, but Linz09 will live on into the new year at Upper Austria’s signature theatrical venue. Co-productions with Landestheater Linz that already premiered in autumn or open in early winter will continue to be staged on into 2010. The program includes KEPLER, an opera by brilliant American composer Philip Glass that was commissioned expressly for the Capital of Culture. Operetta aficionados are in for a treat—THE LAND OF SMILES, one of Franz Lehár’s most beloved works. Two dramatic productions illustrate the enormous appeal still displayed by Bertolt Brecht’s plays: THE GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN is a parable that has been very creatively interpreted by director Ong Keng Sen from Singapore; IN THE JUNGLE OF CITIES is being staged by theatrical star Matthias Langhoff who, following extensive work in French-speaking Europe in recent years, is producing a German-language work once again for Linz.
