LINZ09 subsidizes CROSSING EUROPE competition prize and festival trailer, and supports this year's focus on Lithuania and Kosovar documentary film screenings

The lead-in to the Capital of Culture year has hardly begun but the CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival has already established itself as one of Linz09’s premier program features. This cinematic showcase curated by Christine Dollhofer and dedicated to fresh young European auteur filmmaking has been an international goodwill ambassador of the designated Capital of Culture since 2004.
As part of a large-scale cooperative effort, Linz09 is endowing the 10,000-euro grand prize of the festival’s CROSSING EUROPE Award European Competition once again this year and has also subsidized a new production of the Crossing Europe trailer, FLIEGE by Dietmar Brehm. Linz09 is also supporting a presentation from Dokufest, a documentary film festival in Prižren, Kosovo, as well as Tribute Lithuanian Documents, this year's focus on Lithuania being screened in cooperation with the Lithuanian film festival Scanorama.

Each year, the festival’s hand-picked lineup of features and documentaries has gotten rave reviews from audiences that have included a host of accredited journalists and film industry people from all over the world. And this is precisely what has enabled CROSSING EUROPE to quickly carve out a place for itself in the Austrian festival landscape and to make quite a name for itself abroad as well. Each year since 2004, Festival Director Christine Dollhofer presents approximately 150 films from all over Europe and thus creates a platform for innovative filmmakers who have a tough time getting their foot in the door of mainstream cinemas.
