The Festival of Lies

Dancer and choreographer Faustin Linyekula from the Democratic Republic of Congo has found a interesting approach to the problem of creating a performance about his country‘s brutal and violent history.

The show is a party, with food, drink, music, dancing and stories. And because the truth can be very painful, the stories are all lies. Indeed the evening – which is performed in both 3 and 6 hour versions – turns into a competition to see who can tell the biggest, most outrageously incredible lie of all. The six musicians of S.K. International team up with Flip from Texta to provide a mix of hip hop, jazz, rare groove and dope beats to get everyone dancing. A great night out and an exceptional piece of theatre.
